2-Hydroxy-4-methoxy-4-methyl benzophenone is a broad-spectrum ultraviolet radiation absorber (UVA and UVB) found in personal care products including sunscreens and cosmetic products. Chemical sunscreen agents diminish the penetration of ultraviolet (UV) light through the epidermis by absorbing UV radiation within a specific wavelength range. 2-Hydroxy- 4-methoxy-4-methyl benzophenone can also used in the plastics industry to impart light stability to polymers.
